HOCHAPFEL

JÖRG HOCHAPFEL, born in 1976 close to Lake Constance, has spent many years ignoring the boundaries between jazz, pop and experimental music. In 1996 he co-founded the still-reigning maestros of musical disasters - Hunger - who take a joyfully deconstructive approch to musical mistakes and ambiguities. In parallel, he collaborated for many years with Viennese experimental chansonnseur Willi Landl. Since 2003 he has been the director of surreal jazz ensemble Capri Di Rote Quintett, and currently also plays in the free jazz quartet Piho Hupo, with the Berlin-based, large-scale Andromeda Mega Express Orchester as well as afrofunk band Onom Agemo & The Disco Jumpers. In addition to his performance ventures, he also occasionally composes for children's circus, film and theatre.
